Am I talking to a person?
No. Sibona is an AI companion. It listens carefully and answers in its own words, but it is software, and it will tell you so if you ask.
Is this medical care?
No. This is a wellbeing service for talking things through. It cannot advise you about your health and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified health professional. If you need medical help, please speak to a doctor or a clinic.
Who can read what I write?
Your conversations are stored on your account so that you can come back to them, and they are used to generate your replies. We do not sell them and we do not show them to anyone who does not need access to keep the service running. A small number of our staff can access data when they must fix a fault or answer your support request. You can delete a conversation, or your whole account, at any time.
What does it cost?
Your first 5 answers are free. After that it is R99 a month or R699 a year, with fair use of 600 answers a month. You can cancel any time, and the 7-day cooling-off period under the ECT Act applies to your first payment.
What if I am in crisis?
Sibona is not an emergency service and nobody here can come to you. If you are in danger or thinking of ending your life, please use one of the free 24-hour lines on our get help now page, or call 112 from any cellphone.
Do I have to use my real name?
No. You need an email address so that you can get back into your account, and that is all. Tell the companion as much or as little about yourself as you want to.
